Hello! My name is Janet Samuels. Freckles Quilt Shop has been in Calgary for a number of years, but I have had the joy of owning the shop since July of 1996.
BIO
I was born and raised in the Maritimes, attended post secondary education in Boston and after a couple of years of working for a lawyer in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, I decided to come to Alberta for the summer on July 1, 1970. It's been a long summer.
I am married to Cliff Samuels, and have three children (in their twenties) - Stefan, and David & Sarah (twins). I worked for many years with lawyers and taught at SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) in Continuing Education. I burnt myself out and decided it was time for a career change and so tackled the wonderful world of banking, spending ten years with the Alberta Credit Union System as Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors and CEO. A good time was had by all and I would still be there except for the fact that the most wonderful opportunity came my way and now I am the proud owner of Freckles Quilt Shop! What more could a quilter dream of. While the hours are equally long and the pay isn't - it is worth every bit of my time and energy. I really enjoy the people and who can't delight in all the wonderful work that we have the opportunity to see with our delightful quilters. We hope to expand our horizons and meet even more quilters through the wonderful world of the Internet!
